CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM FOR THE TEACHERS

         ON INCLUSION AND INCLUSIVE STRATEGIES

                                       HELD ON 23RD AND 24TH OF AUGUST 2024

                                           AT MONTFORT SCHOOL GUWAHATI.

 

Capacity Building Program on Inclusion and Inclusive Strategies was held on 23rd and 24th of August, 2024 at Montfort School Guwahati. Mrs Shalini Mathur, Principal, Hindustani Kendriya Vidyalaya, Guwahati was the resource person for the two-day seminar.

Highlights of some of the important skills and knowledge imparted by the resource person include:

  1. Inclusive education in detail. How to help children with disabilities to grow and develop.
  2. Model of learning styles. Such as Visual learners, Auditory learners, Kinesthetics learners, Reading/ Writing learners, Verbal learners, Social learners, etc
  3. Different types of disabilities and their signs and symptoms.
  4. Details about Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPWD Act). Various disabilities are mentioned in the RPWD Act and various rights related to those disabilities.
  5. Role of a teacher in inclusive education.
  6. Various challenges are faced by our children and different measures or strategies teachers can make to reduce these challenges.
  7. Function and role of a ‘Prompter’ and ‘Scribe’ during examinations.
  8. Role of the multidisciplinary team in schools for the development of children.
  9. Various CBSE norms related to inclusive education and exemptions for students with disabilities. (Example – can choose alternative subjects, extra time during examinations, use of prompter/ scribe etc.)
  10. Personal experiences of the teachers with children with disabilities.
  11. Multiple roles are played by a teacher such as a teacher, a counselor, a psychologist, etc.
  12. UDL- Universal Design for Learning, a framework developed to fulfill the needs of different individuals in an inclusive classroom. This approach is based on equity and non-discrimination.
